17th century, the time of war sailboats. These ships are currently the most effective tool of killing. Basically it means, that a fight with a sea is the least that you can await on your ways over an ocean. Whether you will attack, it is your choice, but if you are attacked, then the fight is inevitable. For higher chances to go out of all fights alive, you can visit towns where is possible upgrade your cannons, buy new more effective ammo, and do many other things. Have fun.
